The event took place on 22nd June at The Capitol Hotel, Raj Bhavan Road, Bangalore, focusing entirely on women’s empowerment. Hundreds of women from the city gathered enthusiastically to gain insights on skincare, health, financial literacy, Silk Mark-related knowledge, and entertainment.
Dr. Bhavana Prasad, a renowned Consultant Neuropsychiatrist, Child Psychiatry Specialist, and De-addiction Motivational Speaker from Tumkur, highlighted how women often face mental stress due to daily household chores, caregiving for husbands, children, and elders, office work (for working women), and routine responsibilities.
She emphasized that women can experience mental health issues at any stage of life—from childhood to old age. Just like physical ailments, mental health problems also require professional treatment. Dr. Bhavana debunked myths and taboos surrounding mental health, discussing issues like bedwetting in children, postpartum problems, and depression in teenagers, while also answering attendees’ questions.
Girija Rani Kavdappu, Joint AVP at HDFC AMC Ltd. with over 20 years of experience in finance, explained the basics of Morgan Assets and Kotak Mutual Funds. She discussed why women should invest in mutual funds, how they outperform traditional bank SB and RD accounts, and the benefits of Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs) for wealth growth. She also elaborated on different types of mutual funds and women’s participation in them.
Anita Shirley, President of the All-Karnataka Beauticians Association, celebrity makeup artist, and senior beautician at Shreele Beauty Training Academy, demonstrated how makeup boosts confidence and its importance for modern women. Through live demos with models, she shared tips on avoiding common makeup mistakes and maintaining skincare routines.
D.N. Sandeep, Assistant Director (Inspection) at the Central Silk Board, explained how Silk Mark Organization of India certifies the purity of silk. He detailed the origins, history, and four types of silk—Mulberry, Tussar, Eri, and Muga—along with topics like cocoons, wild silk, flame tests, washing care, storage, chemical tests, and the importance of buying Silk Mark-labeled products.
Asha Somanath, a well-known cooking expert and TV personality, inspired women to pursue their passions with confidence and become successful influencers. She shared motivating real-life examples to encourage attendees.
